# Facebook User Privacy Settlement

Facebook, Inc. settled allegations that it shared or otherwise made accessible to third parties (including but not limited to third-party app developers, “whitelisted” parties, business partners, advertisers, and data brokers) user data and data about users’ friends without permission of the users whose data was shared, and did not sufficiently monitor and enforce third-party access or use of that data. Facebook, Inc. denies any wrongdoing and the court made no finding of liability.

A settlement of In re: Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation, brought on behalf of Facebook users in the United States over user data shared with third parties. The claim filing deadline of August 25, 2023 has passed, the Court granted final approval of the Settlement on October 10, 2023, and the settlement website states that on May 6, 2026, the Court issued an Order approving a second distribution. The settlement website states Meta will establish a Settlement Fund of $725,000,000.
