# Nova Scotia Disability Services Waitlist Settlement

the Province of Nova Scotia settled allegations that it left people who were eligible for disability services under the Social Assistance Act on waitlists for those services, or placed them in Institutions, Nursing Homes or Hospitals, between April 1, 1998 and August 20, 2025. the Province of Nova Scotia denies any wrongdoing and the court made no finding of liability.

A settlement worth up to $34 million for people in Nova Scotia who were eligible for disability services through the Disability Support Program but were put on waitlists, or placed in Institutions, Nursing Homes or Hospitals, between April 1, 1998 and August 20, 2025. Base payments run from $5,000 to $15,000, with further amounts for each additional year. Claims are accepted until March 17, 2027.
