Subaru Battery Drain Settlement

Subaru of America, Inc. settled allegations that the Settlement Class Vehicles suffer from a design defect in some vehicles that can cause battery drain, and that the defendants violated certain consumer statutes and breached certain warranties. Subaru of America, Inc. denies any wrongdoing and the court made no finding of liability.

A settlement over an alleged design defect that can cause battery drain in certain model year 2015–2020 Subaru Outback, Forester, Legacy and WRX vehicles and 2019–2020 Ascent vehicles. The claim filing deadline of May 8, 2023 has passed.

Who is eligible?

Residents of the continental United States, including Hawaii or Alaska, who currently own or lease, or previously owned or leased, a Settlement Class Vehicle originally purchased or leased in the continental United States. Settlement Class Vehicles include model year 2015-2020 Outback, 2015-2020 Forester, 2015-2020 Legacy, 2015-2020 WRX, and 2019-2020 Ascent.

How do you get paid?

The official site provides reimbursement of documented out-of-pocket expenses on a valid Claim Form, an extended warranty, and — for class members qualifying under that section — a single-use Subaru service coupon with a face value of $140, valid for one year from the Notice Date.

What proof do you need?

A cash reimbursement required documentation showing the specific nature of the out-of-pocket expenses and proving membership in the Settlement Class.
