Questions about claiming a settlement

What is a class action settlement?

A class action is a lawsuit in which one or more members of a large group, or class, of individuals or other entities sue on behalf of the entire class. A settlement is how such a lawsuit ends without a trial: the parties agree on terms, and the court has to approve those terms before anyone is paid.

The court can only approve or deny a settlement — it cannot change the terms. That is why every number on this site comes from the settlement itself, and never from us.

How do I know if I can claim a settlement?

Each settlement decides who is included, and states it on its own official claim site. Every settlement page here copies that wording word for word and links to the site that published it, so you can check the terms at the source before you file.

Does SettlementList file the claim for me?

No. We never file, submit, or complete a claim for anyone, and we never ask you for the information a claim form asks for. Every settlement page links to the official claim site, and you file there.

Where do the amounts and deadlines come from?

Every figure is copied from that settlement's own official site, word for word — never from another directory, and never written or summarised by an AI.

Each page is re-read on that official site every week and shows the date it was last checked. If a fact we published is no longer on the official site, the page comes down.

What proof do I need to file a claim?

It depends on the settlement, and only its official site can answer it. Each settlement page here shows what that settlement states it requires, in the words of the site that published it.

Why are closed settlements still listed?

Because the deadline passing does not make the settlement stop existing. A closed page is marked as closed, loses its claim button, and stays up so you can check what the settlement was, what it paid, and which court it was filed in.
