Albertsons Companies, Inc. settled allegations that it sent marketing text messages to telephone numbers after being asked to stop, in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Albertsons Companies, Inc. denies any wrongdoing and the court made no finding of liability.

A settlement over marketing text messages sent by Albertsons, Star Markets, Safeway and their affiliated brands to people who had already asked them to stop. The claim filing deadline of September 10, 2025 has passed.

All persons within the United States who, from June 1, 2023 to the date of preliminary approval of the settlement, received two or more unsolicited text messages and/or telemarketing calls from Albertsons Companies, Inc., Star Markets Company, Inc., Safeway, Inc. and their affiliates and subsidiaries — other than a message confirming an opt-out request — within any 12-month period, for the purpose of selling the defendant's products or services.

How do you get paid?

The official site states that a Settlement Class Claimant receives a pro rata share of the funds available from the Settlement Fund after attorneys' fees and expenses, notice and administration costs and any service award have been paid, estimated to be at least $100.
