Fort Wayne Medical Education Program settled allegations that during the December 2024 targeted cyberattack on its computer systems, certain files that contained private information, such as personally identifiable information and protected health information, were accessed. Fort Wayne Medical Education Program denies any wrongdoing and the court made no finding of liability.

A proposed settlement over the December 2024 targeted cyberattack on Fort Wayne Medical Education Program’s computer systems, in which files that may have contained personally identifiable and protected health information were accessed. Class Members can claim credit or medical monitoring, reimbursement of documented losses and lost time, or an alternative cash payment by October 27, 2026.

All Persons whose Private Information was potentially compromised as a result of the Incident and included on the Settlement Class List. Class Members are identified by FWMEP’s records and may have received a previous notice directly from FWMEP. The Judge and Court personnel, FWMEP and its affiliates, and anyone found guilty of, or pleading nolo contendere to, causing the Incident are excluded.

How do you get paid?

Class Members may claim two years of credit monitoring (CyEx Financial Shield Complete) or medical monitoring (CyEx Medical Shield Complete), depending on whether their Social Security number may have been compromised, and one or more cash payments: reimbursement of documented ordinary out-of-pocket losses up to $500.00; reimbursement of documented losses from identity theft or fraud up to $5,000.00; and lost time of up to four hours at $20.00 per hour, for a maximum of $80.00, which counts toward the $500.00 ordinary losses cap. Instead of any other payments or benefits, a Class Member may claim a one-time $40.00 cash payment.

What proof do you need?

Reimbursement of out-of-pocket losses requires proof, like receipts, showing how much you spent or lost; notes or papers you made yourself are not enough on their own. Lost time claims require a brief description of how you spent the time. The $40.00 alternative cash payment requires no proof or explanation.
